Women on Wheels (WoW) Southwold 2017
Sunday 2nd July 2017
William Godell Sports Pavilion, The Common, Southwold, IP18 6TB
This is a mass participation bicycle ride which aims to get more females active on their bikes. It is a social ride, encouraging ladies to enjoy cycling in the safe company of others. WoW events aim to bring the community together, support local good causes and engage non-cyclists by offering routes of achievable distances while creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
WoW Southwold 2017 is a female only cycle. Cyclists can choose from 3 routes: 7 miles Walberswick, 18 miles Shadingfield Fox (tea stop), 30 miles Sotterley Loop (tea stop as above). Registration Fees are: 30 miles £10, 18 miles £10, 7 miles £5 with profits going to the Southwold Sole Bay Lions charitable organisation. All routes are FREE for 8-16s year olds who must be accompanied by an adult. Cycle helmets must be worn and bikes must be roadworthy.
Registration will be available later in April either by picking up a Registration Form available from Barbrooks Stores, Lowestoft Road, Reydon, Southwold Post Office or Southwold Library (and returning them with a cheque or cash to Southwold Town Hall), or online at www.wowsuffolk.org.uk
Registration desks open at 9am on the day for riders to sign in. Riders will depart as follows: 30 mile route - depart 10.00am; 18 mile route - depart 10.15am; 7 mile route - depart 10.30am. The routes will be marshalled, well signed and have back riders, a mobile mechanic (CycleRecycle Bike shop, Kessingland), plus a sag wagon to pick up riders unable to complete the course. Open to females aged 8 - 88, so whether you are a novice, recreational or regular cyclist, come and ride with like-minded ladies and make some new friends. Don’t worry if you have not been on your bike for ages, this is the chance to make a fresh start. Last year we had 68 riders, so let’s beat that!
